I’m Sean Brien. Backstory is I came from a military family, am second out of five kids, and worked a bunch of jobs to eventually realize my ideal was to maximize the time I get to work on projects I’m passionate about, while also being able to provide both money and time to my family and personal life. The creation of this site is a stepping stone towards that goal. Whether I get hired by a company that’s willing to make this happen, or build my own companies to achieve this. Showcasing my work and ideas will likely be necessary.

This was a summer job, and my first "official" position if you don't count dog sitting, baby sitting, and various other ways to make money before that.
I transitioned from second lifeguard to head lifeguard near the end of my first summer.
I did two summers here.
My responsibilities included:
lifeguarding for both a pool/hot tub swimming area and kayak/sail boating in the bay.
Making schedules for lifeguards
Cleaning the facility/pool/tub and checking/fixing chemical levels
I learned a lot about structure and responsibilites here. I think the important lesson came from sleeping in and getting to the pool late one morning. By the time I got there a somewhat large (30 ish) group of people were waiting outside it and I was over 30 minutes past opening time... Of course I got in trouble, but that sight still crosses my mind every now and then.
Reminding me that people are reliant on you fullfilling the responsibilities you signed up for.
This job was my first one after I finsihed highschool and figured that if I was going to go to colledge I'd probably need money.
I started as a Cashier and ended doing the majority of jobs/positions available in BJ's.
After a few months I was promoted to the position Front-Line-Supervisor.
The position responsibilities was essentiall to Fix all register/customer/employee issues that arose in the front of the store, which was achieved by:
Aligning/convering employee breaks for their schedules
Fixing coupon/technical issues with the self-service machines
Resolving any customer disputes and escalating to management when necessary
I was very personal and did my best to help whenver possibile... I felt like that was the best way to approach the position and I made a lot of friends while doing this. I got bored pretty fast though, and ended up cross-training the following positions: member-services, deli, carts, front greeter/checker, bakery, food court, lottery, laundry.
I even ended up doing a few odd jobs, such as installing a new cashier register and cleaning the bathrooms. (I never trained as a janitor but there was a period of time when there were none)
I learned a lot of lessons about managing people, moods, and time while working this position.
I think one that particulary speaks to me was that of how being "able" sometimes transitions into being "responsible". There were many days where my lunch would get pushed hours back or I wouldn't leave on time because I was the only one who was able to cover someone else's breaks. I still defintely prefer to be "able" to do something, but I try to set reasonable boundaries on commitments.
I swapped to Best Buy, because I was looking for a postion with more technology and it seemed like a great place to learn.
I was assigned an "area" which consisted of the networking devices (routers/switches), the home surveillance systems, and all items for mobile phones. I got to spend a decent amount of training time watching product videos and got to learn the process of backing up, setting up, and transferring data/networks for phones.
My responsibilities basically were just to assist customers in that area.
In terms of life/business lessons... I think the technical lessons were very important for me to start coming up with ideas on how I'd like to use technology and where it's currently at. This also taught me that not all management thought/acted the same and trust with your management is an important aspect of any position.
I went to this position because the work schedule an pay scale worked with what was necessary for me to afford college.
I really enjoyed the schedule of this position 4am-12pm because the roads were completely empty when I went to work and when I got out I had a whole day of possibilities (mostly college).
My responsibilities included:
Unloading the freight off the Trucks
Sorting freight into pallets
Using machinery (forklift/pallet picker) to place pallets in correct locations
Unloading pallets and placing freight in correct locations.
Helping all cusomer needs during time of opening
This was a very physical job, with a close-knit group of guys who loved to hustle.
I learned a lot of life lessons from my older friends there (including a 70 year old in amazing shape)
I learned about how work ethic and individuals affect the workload as a whole due to me actually being able to see that workload in this position.

I moved over to this position because I was looking for something with slightly better pay and I was going to transition to online college (UMGC) so I'd have an open schedule
This was a culture switch for me. The mentality was "don't be still" not like I was still very often in my other positions, but here it was emphasized that you shouldn't be.
The responsibilities were:
Package Solar Panels and items used with them
Document parts/completions
Clean warehouse when not busy
It was a close-knit group here as well, built like a core group with revolving members trying out to be in that group.
This was the first position I was let-go from.
I still don't know the exact reason, but that was kind of the culture of the place.
I brought cigars into work a few days before I got fired and passed them out on lunch break... I feel like i was meant to learn professionalism from that playing out the way it did.

As I was searching for positions this came up and since I had prior mobile phone skills and an associates now. I thought I might be a good fit
This was entirely different from any of the other positions I had, and was a marketing/team building position which emphasized on business-to-business sales and was commission based and I drove to and spoke to business owners in-person, many times cold-calling.
My responsibilities consisted of:
Checking a businesses current internet/phone plan.
Offering improvements/promotions based off customer needs and use of internet/phone
Building/Interviewing/Training a team underneath me
So the business was structured for you to build your own team and eventually expand into your own business. As
